"Back in' Day" - Paul Bannister aka "Paul Brown" - my Equity name

Become a bit of a long standing comment how I always turn Yorkshire when I say that....however I was born and bread in Crewe Cheshire.

Radio started out for me on Radio Northwich back in 1995 back in the days of FM radio. I loved it and got a buzz from being on air and talking to the listeners on the air. This shaped my path through A-Levels and University to where I am today.

Being profoundly deaf is a big obstacle when you're being a presenter, however, minus some blips I think I don't do that bad of a job. I studied media studies at A-Levels and University along side Theatre & performance studies.

My music knowledge comes mainly from growing up in a musical household. I am grade 8 piano, my dad grade 5 and we always had music on in the house when we didn't have 50p to put in the back of our Martin Dawes TV set! LOL - yes those were the days.

Jump forward to presenting, I've been presenting on and off since 1995 and I love it. I currently do Country Favourites on a Thursday 6pm - 8pm featuring all the country classics from back in the day, I do the DriveTime Show (Monday to Friday 4pm until 6pm), I do my new Country Unsigned Show (Fridays 6pm until 7pm) featuring new and fresh upcoming artists that are unsigned or independent artists. I do a show called Top20, which is basically like the chart show if you remember it on a Sunday 4pm from the Official Charts Company but we do the top 20 songs from this chart and you guess what year and day we're doing, I present this with Sy Whitehead, fun and frolics whilst going through a week in the past from the Official Charts Company. We also do a NEW show NOW Retro Music Radio UK, where we choose a now album and you have to guess the year or the NOW (That's what I call music) album that we're doing.

This station was set up in memory of my late mum, Tish Bannister. I was going through paperwork after she passed in June 2026 and I found notes from her saying she was sad because I was sad and the only time she saw me happy recently (excluding the birth of my children of course) was when I was running a station back in 2023 and she just wants me to be happy.....So mum, hopefully, I've done you proud with this station. Retro music Radio - you are and have always been mad about retro music, especially your country music.
